A Call for Volunteers

Do you value, believe in, and desire clean and abundant water, clean air, sustainable agriculture? This is what CSP works hard to conserve for future generations.

Another threat is here, silica sand mining. Our beautiful bluffs and lands along the Mississippi, Wisconsin and Kickapoo rivers contain valuable silica sand needed for frack drilling of oil and natural gas. The bluffs and lands could be scooped out, causing toxic dust, a dramatic increase in truck and rail traffic, explosives possibly rattling our homes, as well as vast amounts of water used and the potential for ground water pollution. We would live with the aftermath and the changes to our landscape and resources forever.

All of us need to take an active role in creating and forging the direction of future growth in our area as well as protecting our natural resources.

CSP has accomplished much in the past few years thanks to the many people who have volunteered to help. Now more than ever CSP needs your help. If you can give a few hours once in a while or help with a few hours ongoing, we would appreciate your efforts. CSP and would love to hear from you.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Join our Board – Board meets monthly, second Monday of the month.
Water quality monitoring (urgently needed) – Requires training in water monitoring and monthly commitment
Co-chair or join a committee

Public Relations

Special events – planning, organizing and staffing special events.
CSP representative – Attend local Town, County or other regional meetings.
Speaker’s Bureau – Speak in schools, public and community events.
Booth Staffing at local events
Write Letters to the Editor
Write articles for newsletter and website
CSP link to other groups – Attend meetings of other community groups
Take photos or video at events

Legal and Legislative

Legal research on CAFOs, sand mines
Legislative Action Leader on upcoming legislation

Finance and Administration

Grant researching and writing.
Writing fund raising letters.
Contacting large donors to request funding.
Doing mailings of fund raising letters and newsletters.

Local Government

Attend Township Board and County Land Use Committee meetings. Work with local governments to support ordinances and zoning to use resources wisely.

Research

Research to support CSP mission and goals.
Write researched articles for CSP website.
