The Kickapoo Initiative and Crawford Stewardship Project invite you to come and learn about Red-Shouldered Hawks in the "Driftless" Region and Music of the Mississippi River in a program presented by
Jon Stravers, the Driftless Area Coordinator for Audubon's Mississippi River Initiative.
Saturday March 20th, 2010
Ten AM till about Noon
At the Historic Maple Ridge Congregational Church, est.1897
Jon has been conducting inventories of Red-shouldered Hawks along the Mississippi River for 30 years.
In recent years his research has expanded to include other species that require large forest tracts such as Cerulean Warblers and other neo-tropical migrants. He conducts Bird Friendly Forestry Workshops and other education efforts involving birds and conservation.
This educational effort also includes river trips on the Mississippi Explorer Cruise boat with his Big Blue Sky band.
Jon and Kevin Dohse will also bring a message of spiritual connection to the planet in the form of music rounding out the morning with
some original music from the river.
